Down or fleece, which one is better?

Down garments use duck or goose down as the main filling. The numerous air pockets in down deliver excellent warmth retention even in extremely cold conditions. Fleece is made from processed synthetic fibers, so its warmth retention is not on par with that of down.

Fleece features high breathability, reducing excessive sweating; down garments, by contrast, can feel damp during wear. In addition, fleece is soft and comfortable, while down garments are slightly stiffer.

Down garments are relatively costly, especially those with premium warmth performance. Fleece garments are more budget-friendly.

Down jackets are heavier and bulkier, making them ideal for harsh outdoor environments. Fleece jackets are lightweight and perfect for light outdoor activities.
